Quantitative Methods
Quantitative microanalytical methods help in addressing numerous research questions, particularly in the fields of ore deposit research, mineralogy/petrology, and the analysis of mineral residues.
The determination of concentrations of major and trace elements with high spatial resolution can be achieved through both electron microprobe analysis and mass spectrometry techniques, including laser ablation inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy (LA-ICP-MS).
Additionally, BGR possesses a laboratory dedicated to the analysis of isotope compositions. These analyses are instrumental in age dating geological processes and clarifying the origins of rocks.
